Court Filing Summarizer
What the Prompt Does
This prompt is designed for an AI to analyze a legal pleading or letter. The AI is expected to extract key information from the document, summarize the main points, and identify relevant legal issues.
How to Use It
This is great for populating a project management system with key information and dates and can be a great way to bring people up to speed on a case when they’re added. Start out with this prompt, review the ouptut and then continue to work in the thread over time.
It makes more sense to have this saved as a snippet or prompt to inject as the first part of a thread for the project instead of using it as a stand-alone system instruction.
Why it Works
First off, don’t be scared by the XML. That’s there to help the model keep track of everything as it does its work. Claude in particular, as stated in their documentation, reacts espcially well to XML. You can literally make it up as you go, it’s just brackets and a forward slash…nothing too crazy.
We start by clearly telling the model what we’re doing, then define it’s output by giving examples. Note that examples instead of specific requirements go in brackets.
It extracts key information and puts it into a table, then walks through a farily standard analysis.
